ExcelCompanion

ExcelCompanion is part of the GoExplore Software Suite and is a simple stand-alone tool that was written for those who use Excel as a Database.

This tool helps you to keep your databases in good shape by using the editing functionality, while you will learn more about your data by a visual data analysis through the many graphs.

When you start the program, it looks for open EXCEL files to which it can link and once you have established a link you can Edit and Chart your data to your heart’s content.

At this moment (May 2025) the tool is still in development, and updates with additional functionalities and bug fixes are forthcoming.

User Interface

Four Forms serve as the user interface for several utilities to manage and visualize the data in the Database :

  • Define DataRange. The form allows you to establish a connection with an open Excel workbook, and to define the WorkSheet and DataRange containing your database.    

  • Edit Column/Range Data. This form allows you to Edit the data that is located either in individual Columns or of the entire DataRange

  • Edit/View Record Data. This form allows you to Edit and View the data of each individual Record in your database

  • Charting. This form allows you to make an incredible number of graphs with the click of a button
